What is the SUREVIEW Wing Mirror System?
Internal Electronic Wing Mirror System
On 7th of May 2019, SURE Transport introduced the 'SUREVIEW'. The SUREVIEW was bought to market after decades of drivers crying for technology innovators to eliminate the problem of heavy vehicle blind spots.
This device erases the problem of blind spots using HD cameras and internal monitors whilst driving heavy vehicles.
A London bus network reported to have had roughly 20,000 safety incidents in the past three years according to the Financial Times and a lot of these were reported to be due to complacency and restricted view.
Compact SVMCAM cameras are fitted to the sides of the bus and the monitor is located inside the vehicle with a split-screened display.
The camera provides high-definition video output to give the driver a crisp picture of the surroundings of the vehicle. With monitors fitted internally, the driver doesn't need to turn their head therefore avoiding the risk of hitting passers-by.

Internal Wing Mirror Monitors
Features:
Compact SVMCAM cameras are fitted to the sides of the bus and the monitor is located inside the vehicle with split screened display.
- High Definition: HD refers to high definition or 720p/1080p resolution, 1080p is known as Full HD. This resolution is a significant step up from 480p which can be seen in the image (on the right). The first figure (1920) refers to horizontal pixels and the second figure (1080) denotes vertical resolution. The simple difference between HD and SD images is the number of pixels contained in the image
- 12.3" Screen: This internal screen is split into 2/3 and 1/3. T

SVMCAM-2 Wing Mirror Camera
Features:
Compact SVMCAM cameras are fitted to the sides of the bus and the monitor is located inside the vehicle with split screened display.
- 850nm IR: 850nm will provide night vision recording over 5M away whilst still retaining image quality with most having a performance increase of over 40% compared with 940nm. IR wavelengths are measured in nanometers (nm) which are used to specify the wavelength of electromagnetic radiation near the visible part of the light spectrum, these wavelengths can go up to a maximum of 1050nm.
- Wide Dynamic Range: So what is Wide Dynamic Range? When part of an image is extremely bright but another part is so dark that you can't see any details, that's dynamic range—the difference in lighting. Cameras with wide dynamic range (WDR) have special software that allows them to balance that lighting for one clear image.
- IP67 Weatherproofing:
- (6) Totally dust-tight. Full protection against dust and other particulates, including a vacuum seal, tested against continuous airflow.
- (7) Protection against full immersion for up to 30 minutes at depths of 3 feet.
